Did you know that this was the first airplane model?

The first aircraft to achieve sustained and controlled flight and to be powered by an engine, was the "Wright Flyer" (also known as "Flyer I"), designed and built by brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright. It was a biplane constructed of fabric and wood, and was piloted by Orville Wright himself on December 17, 1903, in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, United States of America. On that day, they performed four flights; the last of these lasted 59 seconds and covered a distance of 260 meters. With this feat, the Wright brothers are considered the fathers of aviation.

The ANTONOV AN-225 Mriya was considered the largest and heaviest aircraft ever built. It broke more than 200 world records, boasting a length of 84 meters and a maximum payload capacity of 250 tons. Tragically for the aviation world, this six-engine giant was destroyed in its home hangar at Hostomel Airport, Ukraine, in February 2022, during the Russian invasion to Ukrainian territory. The AN-225 Mriya surpassed every other aircraft ever built in terms of dimensions and weight (with a maximum takeoff weight of 640 tons); it was originally designed in the 1980s to transport the Soviet Buran space shuttle atop its fuselage. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, it was repurposed by the Ukrainian company ANTONOV to transport massive special cargoes, such as locomotives, electrical transformers, and other heavy loads. Currently, Stratolaunch's "ROC" holds the title of the aircraft with the largest wingspan in the world.
